In a discourse on mass incarceration, Ms. DiMaggio was invited by the ACLU to speak and she delved into the profound societal ramifications of over-imprisonment. She highlighted the deep-seated trauma imposed upon individuals grappling with extended prison sentences due to addiction-related offenses and shed light on the urgent need for compassion and reform within our justice system.

Ms. DiMaggio's cousin, William F. Najar, was sentenced to life without parole at the young age of 16. As her family could no longer afford to fight his case, she had the extraordinary idea of going to law school in the hopes of representing him one day. She is currently petitioning the Arizona Supreme Court on his behalf.
